Dr. Shawn Arango Ricks is Department Chair and Associate Professor of Leadership & Educational Studies at Appalachian State University. Prior to this, Dr. Ricks served as the inaugural Assistant VP for Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, and Associate Professor of Race & Ethnicity Studies at Salem Academy and College. Dr. Ricks is a nationally invited speaker and facilitator in the areas of diversity, equity and social justice, and has focused her research and clinical practice on social justice and equity. Dr. Ricks is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist.
